Why now?
The prevalence of myopia and high myopia has been increasing and will continue to increase in the coming decades. It is estimated that by 2050, almost 1 billion people worldwide will suffer from high myopia – that’s 10% of the global population!*
Myopic children are at an increased risk of developing complications in later life, such as:
• Myopic macular degeneration
• Retinal detachment
• Cataract
• Glaucoma
The risk increases markedly with high myopia.
As such, it is critical that childhood myopia is identified and managed as early as possible with the most effective myopia solutions available, to slow down myopia progression and reduce the risk of complications in the future.^
