Optical Community Services in your area

Community services are provided by the NHS ICB’s

What is an Integrated Care Board?

There are 42 ICBs, which replaced clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) on 1st July 2022. ICBs work within Integrated Care Systems (ICS) to coordinate health and care services across their regions.

To provide and secure specialist services within an area and advise ICB’s the Optical Profession creates Local Optical Committees which promote specialist commissioned services.
LOCs play a crucial role in promoting specialist commissioned services, which might include various eye care services tailored to meet the needs of the local population. These services can range from routine eye examinations to more specialized treatments for conditions like glaucoma or diabetic retinopathy.

Currently we have a number of LOC areas on our portal that have provided information about the services on offer in your area;
