Tribunal decision on Eye Bus mobile service application
The health, education and social care chamber of the First Tier Tribunal has recently published a decision on an appeal against the rejection by a PCT of an application for a GOS mandatory services contract. The original application was to provide a mobile ophthalmic service by means of a specially equipped minibus (the Eye Bus) to cater for patients who experience difficulty or inconvenience travelling from rural locations to high street practices. The appeal was allowed and the tribunal panel decided that the Eye Bus constituted "premises" for the purpose of GOS Regulation 4(k).
