Brulimar Optical Group to Launch First Children’s Eyewear Range for Fashion Brand Kickers

Leading manufacturer Brulimar Optical Group has agreed a deal to create the first ever eyewear range for iconic footwear fashion brand Kickers.

The collection of cutting-edge frame designs, aimed at children and teenagers, will be launched at Optrafair London 2014 before going on sale throughout the UK.

Both practical and durable, with innovative design details such as fully-flexible hinges and rubberised treatments on certain styles, the range of colourful frames has been designed to be completely in keeping with Kickers’ existing footwear.

Howard Librae, managing director of Brulimar, says: “Kickers is one of the UK’s leading fashion labels and has a phenomenal international reputation. We believe that this deal will further strengthen our position at the forefront of the fashion market.

“The brand has enjoyed sustained popularity over the years and its shoes and clothing are a British high street staple, making it ripe for extension into the optical sector.

“For these reasons, we feel very fortunate to be working alongside Kickers. It’s truly a great honour and helps cement our standing as a great designer, manufacturer and distributor of fashionable, affordable and desirable eyewear. This approach has long been our mantra and we’ve grown our brand by successfully building relationships with iconic fashion labels.”

Kickers’ managing director, Duncan Adams, views this move into eyewear as a key development in the evolution of the brand. He says: “We feel that this step into the optical market will mark a great step forward for Kickers and we’re very much looking forward to launching next year.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Brulimar, who have helped make for a great collaboration that we are confident will elevate Kickers’ reputation and result in strong sales.”

Starting life in France in the 1970s, Kickers became a firm favourite in the UK in the 1980s and has remained so ever since. The brand has been been spotted on the feet of celebrated musicians including Jarvis Cocker, Noel Gallagher and Ian Brown, cementing their popular status.

Brulimar’s success in the young adult market flourished in 2006 with the acquisition of the Bench Eyewear licence, now one of the UK’s top-selling glasses brands among 16 to 35-year-olds. In 2009, Brulimar launched its first collection of frames for iconic jeans brand Lee Cooper before teaming up in 2011 with the legendary Pineapple Dance Studio to create colourful ranges for both girls and women.
Howard adds: “We are always careful to team up with brands that we feel will work well with us. As a result we’ve developed a strong niche offering of designer brands that appeal to young adult glasses wearers.

“We maintain this by pairing with brands that have their own distinct character and following. We hope to translate the spirit of Kickers into a range of eyewear designs that both existing fans and potential new customers will want to wear.”
